THE OPHIUCHUS SYNDROME THE NEW SIGN (SINCE 1970)
I have rarely seen anything that reveals so much the impact and nature of social networks as the Ophiuchus syndrome, it was 2011 when the news of the appearance of a new zodiac sign broke, it was said that it would forever change the zodiacal nature of birth, some even went further explaining that the birth character of people would now be different, there were those who even managed to surf the wave of the new zodiac sign promoting the hoax and making money from it, possibly knowing it was smoke on virtual fire, but well, this is the nature of social networks, a story is created, it becomes true depending on its spread and not its understanding, to later become part of a meta-reality in a kind of virtual purgatory where hoaxes that are not true but are known by thousands or millions of people suffer, if Dante were to raise his head he would send them straight to the eighth circle of hell.
And I say 2011 even though if you look on the internet you will see that every two or three years it is the same story from much earlier, from 1995 you can find this "new story" it is always a new zodiac sign, it is always a discovery, it always surprises, Ophiuchus the new sign since 1970 when someone proposed it, Ophiuchus is like an uncovered hole in the middle of the road in which despite that thousands of people fall every two or three years.
THE REAL STORY
Ophiuchus, as well as the rest of the constellations that transit the ecliptic and which obviously are more than 12, (the Chaldeans considered 18) did not appear by spontaneous generation in the night sky, they were known and studied more than 3000 years ago by the same Chaldean astrologers-astronomers who initiated modern Western astrology, the number 12 evokes the idea of perfection and not only for the Chaldeans, whether we like it or not we are children of structures and concepts created thousands of years ago, for example in the Bible the number 12 is mentioned 187 times and it is even said about a vision of heaven "The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb" Revelation.
The sexagesimal system was copied by the Greeks from the Babylonians who gave a circle a value of 360 degrees and hours 60 minutes, the same Babylonians who formed modern astrology, the division into 12 despite knowing many more constellations is a way of clarifying that it is the human being and not the nature of things that is the foundation of astrology, and its function is not merely a scientific explanation, astrology frames the human being and everything related to him in celestial arithmetic and gives him a defined place and role.
