THE ANTICHRIST
Not long ago a survey appeared in several newspapers, according to which 13% of Americans believe Obama is the antichrist, curiously in past times, Americans thought the same about Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Bin Laden, Bush, (well maybe Bush more so in the rest of the world), and believe me, a varied and curious etcetera.
The most interesting thing about this is the paradox of verifying how Putin, the Russian president, named several times the most powerful person in the world and also with a certainly negative view by the American people, is far below in the appreciation of "antichrist".
The matter doesn't end there, the current head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, is also considered by many as the incarnation of the antichrist, perhaps some might find it strange, but look at Google, the excuse is that in Greek antichrist means vicar of Christ, it is another paradox that goes beyond the normal, especially considering the existence in the papacy of figures who allowed through their silence assassinations and aberrant practices with children, something that is currently being resolved by the papacy of Francis.
But what is the antichrist?, it is a figure only named in the Bible by John:
18 Little children, it is the last time; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have appeared; by this we know that it is the last time.
9 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that it might be plain that they all are not of us.
20 But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.
21 I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
Did you read it? Well that is ALL you will find in the Bible, including the Old Testament about the antichrist, period.
To add insult to injury, it does not mention an antichrist, it communicates that there are many and that at that moment there was one, because really the antichrist is as its own name indicates, he who is against the word and teachings of Christ, and these are numbered in thousands, that without mentioning that it announced the end of times.
The phenomenon of the antichrist is linked to the apocalypse, although in no other case is it mentioned, it is linked, by the vision of the end of times and of the beast, really much of what underlies this antichrist story is anchored in ancestral fear of a destruction of society, the religious background occupies much less space.
Indeed the arrival of the antichrist anticipates a social catastrophe, something similar to the phenomenon of the end of the world prophesied by the Mayans, this is the true reason for the fear of the antichrist, the fear of change.
But it is enough to look back a few years to verify that everything always changes, it is enough to see what moves the world to observe that for a long time, specifically since the appearance of Homo sapiens, power struggles and the most basic interests have occupied the first places, and currently there exists nothing between "God" and the markets, only a terrifying void.
The antichrist is only a reflection of our fear of being dominated by a selfish and emotionless force, capable of setting itself apart and rising above moral and humanitarian considerations, capable of controlling the world from a single position of power, well, this has been happening for a long time, but everyone continues looking the other way and pointing at whoever is most convenient to point at.
Sometimes the hare of conspiracy is bigger and brighter than the leopard of reality, but that doesn't make it any less fierce, it is curious how one can manipulate by putting the focus of the manipulation elsewhere, a rational assessment of the global control exercised by a handful of investment funds tells us they have much more power than any president or religious leader of any creed.
Certainly, each time a large group of people is certain of the existence of the antichrist the more we approach the appearance of characters who embody it to some extent, I think it is better to think about the arrival of a Christ.
